WATER IS OUR LIFE

 Our obligation is to protect and improve our waters, and to prevent negative effects of human activities

Clear water

Waens silt curtain stop the silt from worksites from spreading in the water

Quiet waters

Our bubble curtains are tested to protect aquatic life against damage from underwater blasting and noise

Living waters

Sediment treatment to remove excess nutrients and pollution, stop deoxigenation

This is what we do

Bubble curtains Silt curtains Sediment treatment

The bubble curtiains prevent damage from explosions and pile driving, Silt curtains prevent particle spreading from worksites into waters

All installations and services are tested in real life, effects are controlled and documented.  Silt curtains effects are monitored by automatic tubidity buoys, bubble curtains by noise detectors, sediment treatment by sample and flow analysis

Our Solutions

Bubble curtain

The bubble curtain let compressed air out into the water column through a number of small orifices. The great number of small bubbles created rises slowly to the surface. The sum of the surface area and volume of the air bubbles affects the water environment in a number of ways, and can help;
- reduce noise and pressure vawes
- transport bottom water to surface
- prevent ice
- stop silt and debree

Easy installation

The Waens bubble curtain construction makes it easy to transport, assemble and mount. Powerful installations can be mounted by small crafts, without the need for barges and cranes.

Silt curtains

Human activity at shores and in waterways mix particles from land or seabed sediments. The particles may carry pollutants and will cloud the water. The silt curtain provide a physical barrier, letting water through, holding the particles back.

The right solution

We supply solutions for every challenge from the single curtain for a excavated pipe landing to complexe curtains in streaming waters, passable for ship traffic, curtains with oil stop, just ask!

Sediment treatment

Generations into the industrial era we have left an abundance of excess nutrients and toxic waste in our waters. Today this is sitting in the sediments, slowly leaking into the water bodies, causing algae bloomings and other ecological problems.

Stop the internal strain in water bodies

The leaks from the sediments make a severe internal strain on a lot of waters. Treatment of the seabed either by removing nutrients/pollutants or fixating them in the sediment is needed to improve ecological status within a reasonable timeframe. Waens know the solutions.

Heavy duty silt curtains

For the construction of Norways longest Railway Bridge, Waens installs heavy duty silt curtains that withstand ice, currents and wind. Environmental authorities often require silt curtains for construction work in sea, lakes and waterways. All too often, one sees that the most common prefabricated silt curtains cannot withstand  currents, strong winds or ice and end…

Norways largest silt curtain

Waens is building 45000 m2 silt curtain in Frier Fjord, Norway. In Frierfjorden in Telemark, Norway, a large new industrial and port area is being developed on Frier Vest. Waens has been commissioned by the main contractor Hæhre to protect the Frierfjord against particle dispersion from the filling with 45,000 m2 of silt curtains placed…

Marine services for 170kV power supply

Waens takes on all handling on sea and contain pollution by silt curtains. This year, the Herøya industrial area received a new power supply of 170 kV via a river crossing carried out by directional drilling under Porsgrunnselva river. The cables were pulled through 5 pcs Ø225 PE pipes. It was these pipes that Steg…

Our water life

Sea fever

                                      By John Masefield
I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.
